FLEMINGTON — Congressman Leonard Lance made the following statement in response to President Obama's nomination of U.S. Solicitor General Elena Kagan to serve as Associate Justice on the Untied States Supreme Court:

"With today’s announcement of the President’s nominee for the United States Supreme Court the United States Senate now begins its responsibility to conduct a thorough, fair and comprehensive review of Solicitor General Kagan's record and views. And the nominee will have an opportunity to explain her views on a wide array of constitutional issues. I hope the confirmation process will show a judicial philosophy committed to the Constitution and the rule of law.”
