Lance Statement On The Latest Unemployment Report

WASHINGTON – Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) issued the following statement today regarding the latest unemployment report released by the U.S. Department of Labor.

“Today's jobs report reminds us that unemployment is still unacceptably high and confirms that our economy is still feeling the effects of the burdens of the uncertainty that is permeating through the U.S. jobs market," Lance said.  "Last week's debt agreement put a modest down payment on deficit reduction, but important work still lies ahead.  We must continue to work together in a bipartisan capacity to pass measures that will spur job creation and lead to a stronger economy.”

For his part, Congressman Lance released his jobs plan calling for increased fiscal responsibility and regulatory and tax code reforms to encourage innovation and investment while making American companies more competitive internationally.  Click HERE to read a summary of Congressman Lance's jobs proposal.

“The best way to reduce the deficit is not through higher taxes and more spending but higher employment.  These policies that I favor will remove economic uncertainty, restore confidence in the marketplace and ultimately put more Americans back to work,” Lance concluded.
