WASHINGTON – Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today issued the following statement in support of H.R. 4628, the "Interest Rate Reduction Act," to keep federal student loan rates affordable:

“With tuition costs rising and an unsteady job market I believe it is important that student loan rates remain at their current level.  The U.S. House today passed legislation that will extend the current rates without adding to the deficit.  I call on the U.S. Senate to follow suit and pass this fiscally responsible measure to assist recent graduates and current college students.”

The U.S. House passed H.R. 4628 by a vote of 215-195.  The measure now moves to the U.S. Senate for its consideration.
