LANCE SPEAKS ON THE HOUSE FLOOR REGARDING THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF 9-11

Seventh District Lawmaker Participates In Moment of Silence on the House Floor

WASHINGTON – Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today participated in a moment of silence on the House floor marking the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.  Immediately following the special congressional tribute, Lance delivered a speech on the House floor.

Excerpts from Lance’s floor speech follow:

“This weekend we honor the memories of those who were lost on 9/11, casualties of war as surely as any American who ever died on the battlefield.  We also honor the brave first responders to the horrific acts of a decade ago and recall the tremendous heroism and self-sacrifice of so many in New York, the Pentagon and on a plane over Shanksville.

“The genius and tenacity of our free society is defeating the scourge of terrorism.  May God bless all those who died on 9/11 and their families, those who bravely responded to the tragedy, and those who have put on the Nation’s uniform to serve and protect us from the dangers we still face.  May God continue to bless the United States of America.”

On Saturday, Sept. 10 Congressman Lance will join Gov. Christie, his wife, Mary Pat, and Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and others at a ceremony dedicating the Empty Sky Memorial, a structure that displays the names of the 746 New Jersey residents who lost their lives in the attacks.  Lance will also participate in local 9/11 remembrance events throughout the weekend in Bethlehem Township, Bridgewater, Flemington, Lebanon, Mountainside and Somerville.
