Despite Setback, Seventh District Lawmaker Remains Steadfast In Getting Nation's Fiscal House In Order 

WESTFIELD, NJ– Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today expressed deep disappointment over the failure of the super committee, which announced late Monday that it cannot agree on cutting $1.2 trillion from the Nation's deficit over the next 10 years.

“I am deeply disappointed that the super committee could not reach a bipartisan agreement on a deficit reduction plan," Lance said.  "Like so many Americans I had great hope that the 12 members of the joint committee would come together and work in a bipartisan capacity toward a plan that included fundamental tax and entitlement reform and addressed our unsustainable levels of debt and deficit spending.

"Today's announcement coupled with last week's defeat of a Balanced Budget Amendment in the U.S. House leaves many Americans doubting if Washington is truly serious about getting the Nation's fiscal house in order.  I remain committed to fiscal responsibility and working to enact policies that will remove economic uncertainty, restore confidence in the marketplace and put more Americans back to work.  This in turn will lead to a stronger economy that I believe all of us want to achieve."
