Lance, Child Protection Advocates Bring Child Safety to Forefront in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – To recognize May as National Missing Children’s month, Rep. Leonard Lance (NJ-07) on May 12 will host a free child safety event for parents, kids, education professionals and law enforcement at the Bridgewater Library.

Lance, members of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children®, and Somerset County Sheriff Frank Provenzo will conduct a “Take 25” educational event – which is designed to heighten awareness about children’s safety issues. With a focus on prevention, the campaign encourages parents, guardians, and other trusted-adult role models to spend time talking to kids and teaching them ways to be safer.

Specifically, Lance’s child safety event will take place at 10 a.m., Tues., May 12 at the Bridgewater Library (Children’s Reading Room) located at 1 Vogt Dr., in Bridgewater. The event is free and open to the public.

From 10 a.m. to noon, law enforcement officials from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department will also be on hand to create free fingerprinting and photo safety cards of children for parents.

Lance, who is a member of the Congressional Caucus on Missing, Exploited and Runaway Children, said he hoped the event would bring kids, parents, law enforcement and educational professionals together to learn additional steps to take to protect New Jersey’s children.
