HOUSE DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP MAKES IT OFFICIAL: NO BUDGET IN 2010

Rep. Lance:  “Failure to pass spending blueprint is height of fiscal irresponsibility.”

WASHINGTON – Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) released the following statement in response to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer's (MD-05) announcement today confirming that the Congress will not consider a budget blueprint in 2010.

“The decision by the Democratic Majority to skip this year the annual task of crafting a budget for the U.S. Government is the height of fiscal irresponsibility and a complete failure to govern.

“Never before in the modern era has the House of Representatives failed to put forth, debate and pass a budget.  But never before has our Nation seen this type of unprecedented runaway congressional spending, deficits and debts.

“Producing an annual federal budget blueprint is one of the most basic responsibilities of the Congress.  Yet for the first time in 36 years the Democratic Majority has chosen irresponsibly to avoid the hard budgetary choices New Jersey families and small businesses must make every day.”
