Rep. McCarthy recently met with several members of the American Legion. During her 10 year in Congress, Rep. Rep. McCarthy recently addressed the Nassau County Girl Scouts at their annual Legislative Breakfast. During her remarks, Rep. McCarthy discussed the affect of bullying on young girls and how parents and teachers can step in to prevent acts of bullying from escalating. Rep. McCarthy is a member of the Committee on Education and Labor, and is working to increase school safety through the reauthorization of No Child Left Behind. Rep. McCarthy recently spoke at Mineola's 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, marking the sixth anniversary of the tragedy. Rep. McCarthy was joined by some of Mineola's Boy Scouts, who constructed and dedicated a memorial to those lost in the attacks.
