Washington, DC – Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson made the following statement on the Affordable Health Care for America Act, which was unveiled today:

“Our health care system is in crisis.  Many, many working Americans are unable to afford health insurance, and many who can afford it are denied coverage by insurance companies due to pre-existing conditions.  If the insurance companies wanted to cover these millions of people, they would already have done so.  I remain committed to working to pass legislation that will achieve what the President, the majority of Congress and, most importantly, the majority of the American people want: high-quality, affordable and accessible health care coverage.”
