CONGRESSWOMAN EDDIE BERNICE JOHNSON STATEMENT: TEN YEARS AFTER 9/11

CONGRESSWOMAN EDDIE BERNICE JOHNSON STATEMENT: TEN YEARS AFTER 9/11

Washington, DC – (Friday, September 9, 2011) Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson released the following statement today, commemorating the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001:

“Ten years ago on Sunday, America suffered the most destructive terrorist attack in its history. For those who lost a loved one in the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, or Pennsylvania, and for hundreds of first responders who continue to suffer the adverse health effects from inhaling dust and debris, the wounds of September 11th are no doubt still fresh. In honor of those who lost their lives, as well as the members of our armed forces who have died in our country’s service in the years since, this Sunday is a day consecrated to their memories. We must honor the personal sacrifice of every American who has been affected by this tragedy. The strength of the American people has never been tested so greatly, yet our resolve has never been greater. Even as new threats emerge, we must and we will continue to unite and rise above those who attempt to threaten freedom and democracy throughout the free world.”
