CONGRESSWOMAN EDDIE BERNICE JOHNSON STATEMENT ON WORLD AIDS DAY 2009

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson today released the following statement for World AIDS Day, which is observed tomorrow, December 1:

“Though we have made great progress in fighting HIV/AIDS, serious challenges remain.  New infections in the U.S. still number in the tens of thousands each year, and many of those infected don’t have access to adequate medical treatment.  Today, on World AIDS Day, I recognize those who live with HIV/AIDS and offer them my support.  I also commend the many HIV/AIDS organizations in the United States and around the world for their efforts to slow the rate of infection and assist people who live with the virus, many of whom are in desperate need.”
