CONGRESSWOMAN EDDIE BERNICE JOHNSON STATEMENT ON CINCO DE MAYO
05/04/09Washington, DC – Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson today released the following statement in recognition of Cinco de Mayo, which is celebrated tomorrow:
“Today, we commemorate an important day in Mexican history, a day when the Mexican army triumphed over an invading power. We also use today as an opportunity to recognize the vital economic, social, political and cultural contributions to our country that Mexican-Americans have made and continue to make. I salute the Mexican Americans in my District 30 and those who will celebrate this day with them. I will continue to work hard on behalf of my diverse and dynamic constituency.”
