CONGRESSWOMAN EDDIE BERNICE JOHNSON JOINS PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR ROSE GARDEN SPEECH

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, a former nurse, joined other members of the American Nurses Association at the White House today, where President Barack Obama gave a Rose Garden speech on health care.  In the speech, President Obama emphasized the important role nurses play in the delivery of quality health care.

“I was honored to join President Obama today at the White House,” Congresswoman Johnson said.  “The President is making a serious effort to include all voices in our national dialogue about health care reform.  I look forward to working with him and with my colleagues in Congress in improving our nation’s health care system.”

Congresswoman Johnson served as the chief psychiatric nurse at the VA Medical Center in Dallas and was the first nurse elected to Congress.
