CONGRESSWOMAN EDDIE BERNICE JOHNSON ENCOURAGES STUDENTS TO APPLY FOR TXDOT SUMMER EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson today encouraged Texas students to apply for positions with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Summer Employment Program 2009.  TxDOT will hire approximately 340 students this summer, for salaried positions in the administrative, information technology, engineering and maintenance fields.  Positions are open to students aged 17 or older and are available from May 1 through August 15, at Austin headquarters and statewide.

“Summer employment at TxDOT is an invaluable experience that gives young people an opportunity to learn about transportation issues and gain on-the-job transportation experience,” Congresswoman Johnson said.  “More than 1,900 student employees have gone on to rewarding careers at TxDOT.”

Interested applicants should visit http://www.txdot.gov/careers/summer.htm for more information and an employment application.  Applications are also available at the Human Resources Employment Office at each district headquarters.
