Obama Hammers Small Businesses in Spite of Record Unemployment

For Immediate Release: July 9, 2012
Obama Hammers Small Businesses in Spite of Record Unemployment

(WASHINGTON, DC) – President Barack Obama today called for massive new taxes on small businesses and individuals beginning in January, in spite of Friday’s report showing unemployment levels remain above 8% for the longest period in American history.

“President Obama has shown that he is absolutely out-of-touch with middle-income America, by trying to raise taxes on the very businesses that are the number one engine for job creation,” says House Republican Conference Secretary John Carter (R-TX31).   “We are fighting record joblessness, with millions of Americans giving up hope and leaving the workplace, and yet this President wants to compound the problem by calling for more money to be siphoned from private sector jobs.”

Obama today called for Congress to jettison individuals and small businesses earning more than $250,000 a year out of plans to renew lower tax rates before December 31.  The President’s proposals would hit small businesses the hardest, as they are already facing higher taxes, costly regulations, and penalties as a result of Obamacare mandates taking effect on the same date.

“This proposal is strictly a campaign stunt to pit Americans against each other,” said Carter,  “This is nothing more than trying to change the subject from the faltering job market to the “Occupy” theme of class envy, and that is inexcusable behavior for a President whose job is to unite and lead this country.”
