Carter Supports Passage Of Fiscally-Responsible Budget

Washington, May 18, 2006 -  U.S. Representative John Carter (TX-31) voted in favor of the House-passed budget that promotes fiscal discipline while funding America’s needs. The Fiscal Year 2007 Budget Resolution presents a blueprint for funding the nation’s priorities and holds the line on non-military, non-security discretionary spending.

“While I would have liked to have seen more cuts to non-military spending, I am pleased that my colleagues worked tirelessly to present a fiscally responsible budget. The FY 2007 budget will fund the priorities of Americans and will give our troops the resources they need to successfully fight the war on terrorism,” Congressman Carter said. “In crafting a budget, Democrats proposed amendments totaling
$67.1 billion in additional spending. House Republicans were able to stop this out of control, deficit-busting spending. We are committed to spending taxpayer dollars wisely and strengthening our nation’s critical programs.”
