CARTER SECURES $350,000 FOR JARRELL WASTEWATER PROJECT
05/19/06House Passes Interior Spending Bill
Washington, May 19, 2006 - U.S. Representative John Carter (TX-31), a member of the Appropriations Committee, supported House passage of the Fiscal Year 2007 Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. This bill funds the Department of the Interior, the National Park Service, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other environmental projects and programs. It also includes Congressman Carter’s request for $350,000 to assist with the completion of a wastewater treatment center for the City of Jarrell.
“I am pleased to have secured funding that will make important improvements to the critical infrastructure in Jarrell. The successful completion of the wastewater project will help serve the needs of the region in the years to come,” Congressman Carter said. “This bill uses a fiscally responsible approach to fund important programs to preserve our nation’s natural treasures.”
Specifically, the Interior Appropriations bill includes: $1.3 billion for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, $69 million for Everglades restoration, $5.9 billion for Native American programs, and $5 million for the Flight 93 Memorial.
