CARTER HIRES AND PROMOTES STAFF

Washington, D.C., Jul 25, 2007 -

U.S. Congressman John R. Carter, House Republican Conference Secretary, today announced new staff changes to his Washington D.C. Congressional office.  Chris Alsup, who currently serves as Carter’s Legislative Director, will be assuming additional duties as the conference liaison for Member Services.  Carmen Terry has been hired as press secretary, Mary Randolph Carpenter as scheduler and Beth Ann Kieschnick as the new staff assistant.

“When I ran for Conference Secretary, I ran on the platform of providing Members of Congress and their staff a one-stop shop for questions and assistance with special tasks,” Congressman Carter said.  “Chris has been an exceptional Legislative Director and with his new focus he will help me provide Members with excellent service and attention to their needs.”

Alsup, a graduate from the University of Texas, has worked for Carter since he was first elected into Congress 2002.  Terry, originally from White Deer, Texas, served as Carter’s scheduler and deputy press secretary from 2004-2006.  She most recently served as the press secretary for Chairman Tom Cole of Oklahoma.  Carpenter, a resident of Raleigh, North Carolina, worked for Virginia Foxx of North Carolina as scheduler before joining the Texas delegation.  Kieschnick is a May 2007 graduate from Texas A&M University and most recently worked as an intern for Congressman Kenny Marchant of Texas.

“I am proud of the dedicated staff we have assembled, and know these recent changes will serve as a great asset to our constituents,” Carter continued.  “My staff and I will continue to work hard on behalf of the people of Central Texas.”
