Carter Celebrates U.S. Army 234th Birthday

Washington DC – Congressman John R. Carter (R-TX31) joined Congressional Army Caucus Co-Chairs Sen. Daniel Akaka (D-HI), Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), Representative Chet Edwards (D-TX), as well as Secretary of the Army Pete Geren and Army Chief of Staff General George Casey yesterday in the U.S. Capitol to celebrate the 234th anniversary of the United States Army.

"Since 2005, I have had the great privilege of serving some of the finest men and women of the United States Army as the representative for Ft. Hood. Now I have the honor of serving as Co-Chair of the House Army Caucus with my good friend Congressman Chet Edwards. So it really meant a lot to me to be able to stand up there today and wish the U.S. Army happy birthday alongside General Casey, Secretary Geren, Senators Akaka and Inhofe, and Representative Edwards." Carter said. "The U.S. Army is made of the most distinguished, honorable soldiers to ever put on a uniform in world history, and so on their 234th birthday, I would just like to say that I will continue to fight for them to ensure they have the support and services they need to carry out their missions and defend our nation, and to remember their great sacrifice," Carter added.

"We must never forget the role the Army has played in making the U.S. into the great nation it is today. Additionally, we should remember the sacrifice made by military spouses and families as they support their loved ones who are serving in theaters around the world."
