CARTER ANNOUNCES FIRE GRANT TO COPPERAS COVE
01/17/07Washington, DC, Jan 17, 2007 - House Conference Secretary John Carter (TX-31) today announced that the Copperas Cove Fire Department has received a $594,317 grant for additional firefighters. The funding was awarded through the Department of Homeland Security’s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program.
“These federal funds will be critical to providing additional staff to the Copperas Cove Fire Department,” Congressman Carter said. “I thank the Copperas Cove firefighters for their tireless efforts to protect the citizens of Coryell County, and hope this $594,317 grant will allow them to better fulfill the fire protection needs of the community.”
The SAFER Grant Program was created to provide funding directly to fire departments to help increase the number of firefighters to enhance the ability of fire departments to attain 24-hour staffing and thus assure that their communities have adequate protection from fire and fire-related hazards.
