Congressman Canseco's Statement on Mexico's President Felipe Calderón visiting Washington DC

Washington, D.C. – Today President Felipe Calderón will meet with Speaker of the House John Boehner in Washington to discuss issues mutually important to both neighboring countries. Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco released the following statement in reaction to the visit:

"From an increase in violence along both sides of the Mexican-American border, to future trade and economic interests in Texas and across our two countries, we face enormous challenges as well as opportunities now and into the future with our neighbor to the south."

"Because the 23rd Congressional District of Texas shares over 780 miles of border with Mexico, I am pleased to have had the opportunity to pass the concerns of my constituents along to the Speaker prior to his meeting with President Calderón. I look forward to working with leadership in the House and our partners in Mexico as we take positive steps to address mutually important issues that face our two countries."
