WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Ander Crenshaw, chairman of the Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee, today (2/14) described President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2012 Budget as a wreckless, job-destroying, spending spree. He issued the following statement:

“The President’s 2012 Budget landed with a heavy thud on Capitol Hill. The bill spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much. And, with $8.7 trillion in proposed spending over the coming decade, it does not demonstrate an understanding of the economic issues of the day.

“Fortunately, my colleagues and I take a different and fiscally responsible approach to laying out a budget blueprint for the federal government. The Continuing Resolution that was introduced last Friday is just such an example. With an historic $100 billion in spending cuts, the bill aims to put Washington’s fiscal house in order and grow jobs in Florida and across the nation.

“I fully expect a vigorous and heated debate on the House floor over the Continuing Resolution. And, when we finish there, we’ll apply the same approach to the next year’s budget.

“Through debate and hearings, we’ll take the necessary steps to cut spending, streamline government operations, and implement pro-growth economic policy to brighten the economic future for current and future generations. There is no more room or time to kick the can down the road.”
