Dan Lungren Sworn-In to 109th Congress

(Washington, DC)— Joined by family and friends, Dan Lungren (R-Gold River) was sworn in as the new Congressman representing California’s 3rd Congressional District in the 109th Congress. The 3rd Congressional District includes northern Sacramento County, and portions of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, and Solano Counties.

"Today is a very special day for my family and me. It is with great honor that I take the Congressional oath of office. Being sworn into office in the company of my wife, children, and grandchildren was an honor I will forever cherish," said Congressman Lungren.

"There will be a number of difficult and important issues that face Congress in the next session, but I believe that none are greater than protecting the security and safety of our nation. In a post-9-11 world, ensuring the wellbeing of America will be my number one priority.

"On this first day of the 109th Congress, I have agreed to co-sponsor House Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner’s Border Security Bill because I believe that his bill is an important step toward preventing another 9-11 style attack. The bill will further secure our nation’s borders by setting strong standards for obtaining a driver’s license.

"I would also like to thank my wife Bobbi, my family, and our friends for their assistance making possible my return to the United States Congress; I would not be here without there unwavering guidance and support."

Congressman Lungren previously served in the United States Congress from 1979-1989 and served as California’s Attorney General from 1991-1999.
