House Holds Attorney General In Contempt of Congress

(Washington, DC)– US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) has issued the following statement following the House vote to hold US Attorney General Eric Holder in Contempt of Congress:

“Holding the Attorney General of the United States in Contempt of Congress is a serious step and one that I do not take lightly. However, oversight of the Executive Branch is an essential role of Congress, and the Administration has stonewalled the investigation into Operation Fast and Furious for over a year. The American people and the family of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry deserve answers. As such, today’s actions are the only remaining option for Congress to properly exercise its oversight authority and obtain the documents necessary to get to the bottom of Department of Justice actions that went terribly wrong”.
