ALBUQUERQUE, NM—U.S. Representative Martin Heinrich announces a month-long effort to highlight local, high-tech manufacturing businesses in central New Mexico. Over the next several weeks, Rep. Heinrich will meet with employees and tour numerous businesses that provide quality jobs to hundreds of New Mexicans.

Today, Rep. Heinrich released the following statement following his visit to Senspex, Inc., a minority owned, small business in Albuquerque specializing in thermal imaging cameras and video security systems.

“Senspex is providing cutting-edge technology to keep America safe.

“Even through the recession, high-tech companies like Senspex are weathering the storm and driving a small business engine that is leading our economy out of these difficult times.

“At a time when many other industry clusters were struggling, New Mexico’s high technology cluster grew by several thousand jobs, with an average wage of $61,000.

“I just voted to close a tax loophole that corporations were using to send U.S. jobs like these overseas, and I’ll keep working to strengthen policies that encourage the United States and its contractors to buy products made in America.

“By supporting the growing high-tech manufacturing industry, we’re leveraging New Mexico’s strengths and we’re boosting our nation’s economic vitality. I’m grateful for Senspex’s leadership. With the right strategies, I know that we will continue to multiply these economic success stories here in central New Mexico.”
