Hurricane Sandy was an unprecedented storm that left a devastating impact on our communities in New Jersey- damaging homes, businesses, and leaving millions without power. Hudson, Essex, Middlesex, and Union counties, were hit particularly hard by Sandy. We have been fortunate to have a large team of federal, state, and local responders to assist in recovery efforts.
Washington, D.C.-- Today, Congressman Sires announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration is awarding the state of New Jersey yet another $10 million dollars in emergency relief funding to reconstruct highways and roads that were impacted by Hurricane Sandy, which reached New Jersey on October 29, 2012.
