Statement of U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert on the Eighth Anniversary of the September 11th Terrorist Attacks

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13th) issued the following statement in remembrance of the lives lost eight years ago today during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001:

“America will never forget the sacrifices of those who lost their lives during the tragic events of that September morning, nor will we ever forget the extraordinary bravery of our first responders who risked everything to help those in harm’s way.  The loss we experienced that day, the heartbreaking sadness, and our deep sense of unity in the face of evil will serve always as a constant reminder that only with eternal vigilance can we defeat the forces of tyranny and fear that would undermine our most precious freedoms.  My thoughts and my prayers are with those who lost their lives that day, as well as the family members and loved ones they left behind.

“This anniversary also marks yet another year that the men and women of our armed forces have persevered against the forces of terror, and continue to fight to keep us safe from further attacks both at home and abroad.  Our soldiers are the most professional, dedicated and courageous the world has ever seen.  They place their lives on the line every day for our freedom, and the sacrifices they make, and those of the veterans who came before them, deserve our eternal gratitude and respect.  I will continue working with my colleagues in Congress and the Administration to ensure that America’s men and women in the field have the support and resources they need to accomplish their mission as safely as possible and return home knowing that their needs will be cared for by a grateful nation.”
