Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13th) today issued the following statement after Governor Quinn called on Senator Roland Burris to resign amid questions about his appointment and called for a special election to fill the vacant seat:
 
           “It was the right call.  This Senate selection process has been tainted from the start, and Illinois residents deserve a chance to have their confidence restored.  I hope that our new Senator agrees to put this scandal to bed and that Illinois residents get a chance to select the person they trust most for the job through an open and fair election.”
