Biggert Statement on February Jobs Report

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13th) today issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor reported that the unemployment rate last month remained at 8.3 percent, despite the addition of 227,000 jobs in February:

“After 37 straight months of unemployment at over eight percent, every new job is a welcome sign, but clearly we have a long road to recovery.  American entrepreneurs and job creators are the greatest in the world, and they are eager to do what they do best.  But Washington needs to clear a path for small businesses and innovative start-ups to bring new ideas and goods into the marketplace.  The House acted this week on a bipartisan package -- the JOBS Act -- that will do just that.  The President has agreed to sign it, and it’s time for the Senate to do its part.  Together we must continue to fight for pro-growth policies that will ease the burden on job creators, and put Americans back to work.”
