Washington, DC– U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13th) today issued the following statement in support of a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution:

           “The massive federal debt is draining our economy of jobs, capital, and confidence.  It’s past time to kick the spending addiction.  This amendment would have helped to break the pattern of irresponsibility that threatens the financial future of our children and grandchildren.  I’m disappointed that a minority of House members were willing to ignore the majority of Americans to block this important proposal from receiving the two-thirds vote needed.”
