Biggert Praises Senate Passage of 1099 Repeal Bill

Willowbrook, IL – U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13th) today lauded Senate passage of legislation she cosponsored to repeal a burdensome small business mandate included in the Administration’s health care law.  H.R. 4 repeals the onerous 1099 tax reporting requirement that would force businesses to file paperwork for all purchases exceeding $600.  It was approved by the House last month and passed the Senate today by a vote of 87-12.

“One of the most common complaints I hear from small business owners is about the needless paperwork burdens and costly mandates imposed by government.  These reporting requirements aren’t just an inconvenience – they take time and resources away from small businesses that could be used to create jobs and grow our economy.  This repeal will help get government out of the way, fix one of many costly mistakes in the Administration’s health law, and let our job creators focus on what they do best – putting people to work.”
