Rokita: U.S. Must Continue “Unwavering Support” for Israel

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita today issued the following statement on the escalating violence between Hamas militants and Israel. Rokita today also supported the passage of H. Res. 813, expressing America’s commitment to Israel’s security and its right to defend itself.

“The United States must continue to show our unwavering support as our ally Israel vigorously defends itself,” said Rokita. “Neither Israel nor the United States should tolerate acts of aggression from militant organizations that claim the Jewish state has no right to exist. Although we hope for a peaceful resolution, that will only be possible after militants stop attacking and provoking the Israeli people.”

H. Res. 813, which passed the House by unanimous consent, expresses Congress’ “vigorous support and unwavering commitment to the welfare, security, and survival of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state with secure borders, and recognizing and strongly supporting its right to act in self-defense to protect its citizens against acts of terrorism.”
