Veterans Jobs Bill Passes House

Nov 16, 2011 Issues: Budget, Veterans

Washington, D.C. – Representative Reid Ribble (WI-8) today voted to pass legislation that will create job training programs for veterans and both increase and expand tax credits to employers who hire members of the Armed Forces who have completed their active duty.

“This legislation will help our nation’s servicemen and –women, especially those who are injured or disabled, get back on their feet as they transition into civilian life,” said Ribble. “After returning from active duty, many veterans have to rebuild their lives from scratch, and our country’s current economic situation has not made this an easy feat. The job training programs and tax incentives set forth in this bill will not only help spur the economy but most importantly, it will make it easier for America’s heroes to find jobs and settle back into normal life.”

The Senate amendment to H.R. 674 would amend the bill to establish new job training programs and requirements for Armed Forces members returning from active duty, create additional requirements for veterans’ job training programs, and increase tax credits for employers to hire qualified members of the Armed Forces following their service.
