Reps Ribble, Cooper Urge Super Committee to “Go Big”

Washington, D.C. – Representatives Reid Ribble (R-WI) and Jim Cooper (D-TN) today discussed the bipartisan letter they are going to send to the Super Committee urging them to “Go Big” and cut the federal deficit by $4 trillion.  Roughly 100 House members, both Republicans and Democrats, have signed on to this letter.

Excerpt from interview:

“I think what we're looking for is to encourage the committee to look at three things. We want whatever they come out with to be fair, to have sound policy, and to recognize the economic realities of what we are facing today. Tax rates don't correlate much to what actual revenue is, but if we would remove some of the subsidies and tax giveaways, we would have the money to reduce rates and spur economic growth which would increase revenue.”
