Rep. Ribble Appointed to Transportation and Infrastructure Committee

May 11, 2011 Issues: Congressional Reform, Budget, Transportation

Washington, DC – Representative Reid Ribble (R-WI) announced today that he has been appointed by the House Steering Committee and the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives John Boehner to serve on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

Ribble will continue in his role as a member of the Budget Committee and the Agriculture Committee, and will add Transportation and Infrastructure to his committee assignments and workload.

Wisconsin’s 8th congressional district is home to the Green Bay, Appleton and Outagamie airports, and extensive shipping and rail lines. Congressman Ribble’s placement on this committee will allow him to directly work on strengthening these vital Northeast Wisconsin transportation resources in addition to continuing the development and maintenance of our roadways.

“I’m pleased to welcome Congressman Ribble to the Committee and I look forward to his contributions to our important work of creating jobs and building America’s infrastructure,” said Committee Chairman, Rep. John Mica (R-FL). “As a small business owner for over 30 years, Rep. Ribble understands the critical role that our Committee plays in the economic development of rural areas like Northeast Wisconsin. His expertise will serve us well.”

Ribble joins fellow Wisconsin member Rep. Tom Petri on the Committee and said that he looks forward to working with him to help make northeast Wisconsin a hub for business development, economic growth and transportation safety.

“Our country’s infrastructure is one place in our budget where we must continue to invest. Not only is it a job creator, it’s an important part of keeping pace in a global economy. I’m honored to be selected to serve on this Committee and look forward to getting to work right away,” said Ribble.
