Nine Years Later, We Remember

Posted by Scott Gosnell in In The News

Nine years ago today, 2,977 innocent civilians from over 50 countries lost their lives in unthinkable and cowardly acts of violence on American soil.  Our national consciousness was shaken to its core as we witnessed horrifying images of death and destruction.

September 11, 2001 will forever be remembered as a dark day in the history of our republic.  Let us remember all who perished—those who never returned home from work, those who selflessly gave their lives in an effort to save others, and those who fought back in the skies over Pennsylvania.  But let us also remember it as a day when the very best American virtues shone through one of our darkest hours:  a sense of unity, camaraderie, and national resilience.

As we reflect on the events of this day, let us recall the character and strength that arose in its aftermath, and remember the men and women in uniform who have given their lives in defense of our freedoms.  Because of their courage and valor we now live in a safer world.
