    Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with various elected officials and students from Puerto Rico to discuss issues that affect the future of Puerto Rico. During the day I met with Senator Thomas Rivera Schatz, Senator Eduardo Bhatia, Representative Jennifer Gonzalez, Senator Carmelo Rios and former Senator Charlie Rodriguez. Durante el dia pude hablar con el Senador Tomas Rivera Schatz, el Senador Eduardo Bhatia, la Representante Jennifer Gonzalez, el Senador Carmelo Rios y el ex-Senador Charlie Rodriguez. En adicion, tuve una reunion con estudiantes universitarios de Puerto Rico que participan en el programa Cordova-Fernos.

    Handel's Messiah Performance at Lehman College (4 photos)
    This past Sunday, December 9th, I joined my son Senator Jose M. Serrano and other members of the community as readers in the presentation of Handel’s Messiah. It was a wonderful performance by the Bronx Chorus and The Bronx Orchestra under the direction of Michael Spierman. We were joined by many members of the community including Michael Max Knobbe Executive Director of BronxNet. This performance is a yearly tradition and a great holiday celebration.

    Today at 3pm I will join, my son, Senator Jose M. Serrano as readers in Handel’s Messiah at Lehman College in the Bronx, New York. The performance by the wonderful Bronx Chorus and the Bronx Orchestra will include readings by members of the community. This event is one of the best traditions in our community and we are honored to be part of it.

    On Saturday, November 17th, I ran the Flushing Meadows/Corona Park 5K Race. The Race is a fundraiser to support activities at the park and brought together a large group of runners on a sunny brisk autumn morning.
