  1. Today I introduced legislation that would ban high-capacity assault magazines carrying more than ten rounds, like those used in the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings and in many other gun massacres, including last summer’s tragedy in Aurora. This is a reasonable first step we can take to make our communities and our country safer.

I respectfully request that you vote against any legislation submitted in the United States Senate that compromises the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. I must remind you that you are bound by oath to protect the every right granted to us by the Constitution, and by not doing so, you would negligent in the execution of your duties as an elected official. We are a Constitutional Republic. That is your mandate, not the whims of your party. Overturning any detail of the Constitution would dishonor the many who have fought and died to defend it and put all the liberties we embrace as Americans in grave peril. I will be following your actions. If you do not honor my request, I will do everything within my legal rights to prevent you from ever holding office again. I will share your voting record on every form of social media and volunteer to work tirelessly for any candidate who opposes you in future elections.

Government needs to study Singapore since Singapore has zero gun homicides; READ THE LATEST UPDATE: http://worldpeacethroughworldwidedisarmament.blogspot.com/2012/12/gun-control-has-to-be-comprehensive.html#!/2012/12/gun-control-has-to-be-comprehensive.html

I think you have been smokeing to much of your legal pot. Your type of ban has already failed in ultra-liberal illinois state senate, what makes you think it will work on a national level? Stop trying to turn the U.S. into a nanny state. I like my freedom and I love America, I do not want to lower my standards to that of Europe or any other nation's.

If every time you turn around your government is trying to disarm you shouldn’t you be asking “Why?” -

  3. Last night I spoke with MSNBC’s Richard Lui about the fiscal cliff deal, and the need for bipartisan and bicameral cooperation on future fiscal challenges.
  4. Tonight I voted in favor of the bipartisan deal to avert the fiscal cliff, for the sake of hardworking middle class families and our nation’s economic recovery. It was far from the deal many of us hoped for, and certainly not the comprehensive solution we saw in this opportunity. However, with the economic recovery still fragile, we cannot let the perfect be the enemy of the good. We have a resp...onsibility to the American people to do the right thing – and the right thing was to prevent everyone’s taxes from going up tomorrow or sending the financial markets into a tailspin.

In the coming weeks, we must address the serious challenges of sequestration with a comprehensive and balanced approach that strengthens our short and long-term economic future. Once again we also must raise the debt ceiling, and I strongly urge my colleagues across the aisle to not initiate a repeat of the irresponsible debt ceiling debate of 2011. The full faith and credit of the United States is not a political pawn, and, quite simply, just like any American family, we have an obligation to pay the bills that we have already incurred. The last debate resulted in a downgrade of our nation’s credit rating, and this time the consequences would be far worse.

As we address these next fiscal challenges, I hope my colleagues can work together towards bipartisan and bicameral solutions. The American people deserve better than a Congress that acts like a student running into their professor’s office to turn in a term paper by midnight on its due date.

  5. Last night I spoke with Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC's "PoliticsNation" about the urgency of passing my bill to ban high-capacity assault magazines THIS WEEK. It's a reasonable first step we can take immediately to protect our children from gun massacres like Newtown.
  6. In the wake of the horror of Newtown, our nation is calling for something to be done. That is why I am fighting so hard to get my bill passed THIS WEEK that bans high-capacity magazine clips, like those used by the killer on Friday and in f...ar too many gun massacres, like Aurora. We may never be able to completely stop a disturbed individual from going into a school or a movie theater or a mall to shoot innocent citizens, but we can limit the weapons and ammunition available to them, to give people in their sights a fighting chance. There is no one answer to stopping these massacres but my bill is a reasonable first step we can take before the end of this year.See More
