  1. MESSAGE SENT TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE KNESSET AND DIRECTED TO EACH OF US

    My Dearest Brothers and Sisters,

There is much strife and seeming complexity regarding peace and brotherhood among all of us in the world. There are many, who believe they have the right answer and are militant to impose their “right” answer on all. They seem to forget the earliest message of our holy scriptures, whether the K...oran, the Bible or the Thora, namely that each of us, within our hearts, have been provided with the spirit and love of the Father of us all. This was revealed to our common earthly father, Adam, who understood this in his heart before the writing of any scripture. Each of us have access to this fundamental truth, whether Muslim, Christian, Jew and also our fellow human beings, who have not had the good and fortunate access to the teachings. When we pray, we pray to our Father, present and living within in hearts of each of us. The secret to the peace and brotherhood we all yearn for is to see the presence of our Father in each of us and to love each other as our Father loves us. Within this context, the actions required to address the problems of our contemporary times will not seem insurmountable.

“We have sent by inspiration to you as We commended to Abraham, Moses and Jesus, namely that you should be steadfast in religion and make no divisions therein… Allah is our Lord and your Lord… there is no contention between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is our Homecoming.” (Sura 42.13 - 15)

My access to our Father is through the Christian teaching, neither less nor more important than the teachings of Abraham or Mohammad. It is the Christmas season, a time when Christians celebrate the love of the Father for and within us all. I give you the following teaching of the Apostle Paul and invite you, whether Muslim, Christian, Jew or a brother seeking access to our Father, to live this teaching within your life:

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

    From Love and Brotherhood,
    Erik Hesse

Please sign and share this White House petition on your walls. President Obama has recently offered an extremely weak proposal to the fiscal cliff negotiations that would cut into Social Security benefits. WE MUST URGE HIM TO REVOKE THIS PL...AN!! The banks are too big to fail, yet we are too small to care about?!?https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/rethink-and-rescind-your-latest-fiscal-cliff-proposal-cut-social-security/h80t6Qh5See More

The USA needs some measure of gun control-this is at critical mass, politicians cannot be up close with their constituents, students/babies cannot be in school/college, grown folks cannot enjoy shopping, movie going. Domestic violence here in WI in hate crime in Oak Creek, Domestic and work place violence in Brookfield and all throughout the Urban neighborhoods in MKE. WHO WILL BE BRAVE ENOUGH TO ...RE-EXAMINE THIS TOPIC? If it were say a other communicable pathogen we would have all hands on deck and all agencies too, but not for this era where Mentally/Criminally deranged people can wreak havoc at any given time on our society!!!! STOP-RETHINK-PROTECT THE MASSES, THIS TOPIC SKATED PASS THIS PAST ELECTION CYCLE-what or WHOM will it TAKE to try and examine this CULTURAL GUN VIOLENCE EPIDEMIC???See More

Hi Rep. Moore. I saw that your committee was having a hearing today on the dollar coin. I hope you support it - saves us money, which is why the Canadians and Europeans did it years ago. http://ow.ly/fEEGp

Action Alert: Carcieri Fix Moving Today,
Tribal Provisions of VAWA this Week!

Right now, two of Indian Country's top legislative priorities, the Carcieri fix legislation and the tribal provisions of the Violence Against ...Women Act, hang in the balance as members of the Senate and House consider legislation in the Lame Duck session. Both items have a real chance of passage, but Indian Country needs to step up and make our voice heard.

We're calling on all of Indian Country to help push these legislative priorities over the finish line. It's up to you - tribal leaders, advocates, and citizens of Indian Country to send a clear message to members of Congress - secure our tribal nations, secure our economies, and protect our Native women.

We want to hear how you helped! Once you've made a phone call, please fill out this form and let us know what action you took (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHAzWHFqbGJMVWswemFOSG5aX1g3Z3c6MQ#gid=0). Thank you!

Act Right Now in Support of Clean Carcieri Fix! Send this message right now - "Protect and secure our tribal economies"

Today - this afternoon, Monday November 26, 2012, the Senate is expected to vote on a motion to proceed on legislation to provide a critical fix to the 2009 Carcieri Supreme Court decision.

Indian Country must call for Senators to support a clean Caricieri fix and allow the legislation to proceed to a cloture vote on Wednesday.

How to Take Action Now: Call your Senators with the following message:

"Hello, I'm calling to speak to Senator <insert Senator name here> to support a motion to proceed for Senate Bill 676 which offers a critical amendment to the Indian Reorganization Act and provides direct, no-cost, economic impact for struggling American Indian tribal economies.

As a tribal member and a constituent from <name of your tribal nation/affiliation/location/or group> I'm calling to encourage that he/she support a straight up or down vote, and to vote yes in support of a clean Carcieri fix legislation with no amendments."

Here's why Indian Country is supporting this legislation:
Indian Country supports the bipartisan effort to pass a motion to proceed and move to a cloture vote on Wednesday.
Indian Country's economies are not secure and face incredible challenges. This is a tribal economic development bill that will cost the government absolutely nothing.
The bill restores the Department of Interior's authority to take land into trust for all federally recognized Indian tribes.
Our tribal economies are facing some of the greatest challenges in our country and this legislation provides a pathway for all federally recognized tribes to strengthen and diversify our tribal economies - energy development, economic development, and cultural protection.

Act this Week: Tribal Provisions of the Violence Against Women Act

During the past year, our collective work ensured that the Senate passed a bipartisan, tribal-inclusive and survivor-focused Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA). Yet, VAWA has remained stalled since before the November elections.

In the coming days or weeks, there is a real possibility that VAWA legislation agreed to by the Senate and House could come up for a vote.

It's up to Indian Country to help get VAWA across the finish line before the end of the year!
Please contact your members of Congress immediately and remind them just how important the tribal jurisdictional provisions of VAWA are.

Urge your Senators and Representatives to call on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Speaker of the House John Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith to pass VAWA with comprehensive tribal provisions.

Make the Call: Tribal Provisions in VAWA !

Use the attached talking points and call script to refine your message to Congress and to help them understand the Senate tribal provisions.

NOW IS THE TIME TO SPEAK UP!! Urge your members of Congress to work with the Senate and House leadership to include the tribal jurisdictional provisions in any final VAWA bill.

    Additional Information about the Legislation

The bipartisan Senate version of the bill, S. 1925, contains Section 904, which is a provision that would restore tribal jurisdiction over non-Indians for certain crimes of domestic violence and dating violence committed in Indian country. Section 904 is broadly supported by Indian tribes across the country. However, the House passed version, H.R. 4970, does not include the tribal criminal jurisdiction piece, and some members of Congress have stated objections to it. In fact, VAWA may move during the Lame Duck session but sources have told us that some leaders in the House are refusing to let VAWA proceed unless the tribal jurisdictional provisions are completely removed. VAWA is at a critical juncture and we need your help!!
