  1. It is a sad day for America when the most innocent among us become victims of a sickening, senseless act of extreme violence in Newtown, Connecticut. My deep condolences are extended not only to those who lost a child or a loved one today, but for the children who lived through such a terrifying experience.

Jan, please, it is time for sensible, common sense guns laws that target assault weapons and large capacity ammunition. Hunters do not need those types of weapons. Average citizens do not need them either and I do not believe the constitution gives anyone the right to bear ANY TYPE of arms. We cannot make any reasonable argument that the the Founding Father's could have imagined today's world and wound say this is what they meant by the right to bear arms.

I am one of your constituents. In light of today's horrible crime in Newton, CT, I ask that you stand up and speak out against automatic and semi-automatic weapons. They must be banned. News from Obama's spokesman is that 'today is not the day to discuss gun control' That's akin to saying that 9/11 wasn't the day to discuss airport security. How many people will die before we stand up to the NRA?

Don't you have bigger and more important things to worry about other than "hair straightening products"???? This country is going down hill and THAT is what you guys come up with to write letters about? Seriously....

    • Please sign the letter to President Obama asking that he make Tibet a top priority for U.S. advocacy and ensure that the next Secretary of State will also be a champion of Tibet. The situation inside Tibet is turning worse every day. There have been more than 97 immolations to reflect the situation inside Tibet. China has turned Tibet into the biggest concentration camp so far seen in this world, monitoring and restricting all social freedom and movement. All places of worship, school, and streets are saturated by police and PLA . Mass arrest and disappearance are the norms and all social media are cut off . As a leader who stood for rights of down taro denned, you are the only VOICE for Tibet and co sponsor this petition. Namkha Drongpa

  3. It was a pleasure to have representatives of the Beth Emet youth delegation visit my office yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed addressing their thoughtful public policy concerns!

  4. This week I introduced H.Res. 810 urging the FAA to continue to work with airports to implement noise mitigation plans. The 9th District is fortunate to have a world class airport at our doorstep, but residents deserve protection against significant noise pollution.
