Barrow to Host Energy Expo in Savannah PDF Print

Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) is hosting an Energy Expo in Savannah this Saturday, May 30, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the EOA Head Start and Administration Building on 1120 May Street in Savannah.  The event is free and open to the public.

 

He'll be joined by community and business leaders from across Georgia who will be discussing energy education and economic development, and how to spend less money each month on electricity and gas.

 

"I know folks are worried about lowering the cost of clean energy," said Barrow. "We'll show how you can lower your energy bills, and talk about economic development and energy independence through the development of clean energy."

·        City of Savannah's Recycling Program and "Dump the Pump" in partnership with the Savannah Bicycle Campaign

·        Southern Company - energy efficiency and weatherization programs

·        Cooperative Extension Service - organic growing, green cleaners, food preservation, water conservation

·        EOA - weatherization program

·        SoGreen - green workforce development, farmers market

·        Gunn Meyerhoff Shay (GreenSweep)

·        Structured Green-Modern Eco-Friendly Furniture

·        Natural Gas Powered Car for demonstration

·        PureSpectrum - green lighting company

·        Georgia Electric Municipal Cooperative - discuss ways to lower power bills
