Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (PA-13), New Democrat Coalition Vice-Chair

For me, public service has always been about finding solutions to the challenges facing our families and our nation. New Dems understand this deeply, and that's why, when I was sworn into Congress in January 2005, I was honored to join one of the House's strongest caucuses, the New Democratic Coalition. New Dems are committed to policies that maximize American innovation, build on what we know works, and lay the foundation for our future economic competitiveness and prosperity. ‪

As a New Dem Vice Chair and co-chair of the New Dems Healthcare Taskforce, I am working with my colleagues to tackle one of the most significant issues facing our nation: healthcare reform. We must find a uniquely American solution to contain costs and ensure that all Americans have meaningful access to affordable, quality healthcare. Achieving healthcare reform is a top priority of the New Dems, and we know that the path to accomplish this vital goal relies on expanded access to meaningful coverage, increased use of innovation and technology, incentives for effective delivery systems, and a renewed commitment to prevention.

Meeting the tremendous challenges before us will not be easy, but as New Dems we are committed to putting forth bold ideas, building consensus and leading America towards economic strength, prosperity, and security.
