Fitzpatrick supports TRAIN Act

Sep 23, 2011 Issues: Economy and Jobs

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick voted to help identify and eliminate burdensome regulations on small business with a bill he believes is critical to putting Americans back to work.   H.R. 2401, the TRAIN Act passed the House by a vote of 249-169.  The TRAIN Act will bring transparency to regulations by establishing an interagency committee to conduct a comprehensive economic impact study to evaluate the effects of EPA regulations on small business.

“Americans are trying to get back to work.  It is essential that the federal government does not get in the way of job creation by imposing costly regulations that burden consumers, local governments and businesses that create jobs.  Rather, government should strive to create an atmosphere of certainty for businesses and consumers so that employers can start hiring again.  My vote today will save small business from the possible implementation of job-crushing government regulations.”

“At a time where businesses are reluctant to grow and consumer prices are on the rise, we must stop the irresponsible regulations destroying jobs.  Along with my vote today, I am also a cosponsor of the REINS Act, which will keep unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats from being able to use reckless regulations to hinder job creators.  We must pass thoughtful legislation that promotes jobs creation here at home and safeguards business from damaging policy that cost American jobs.”

The REINS Act (H.R. 10) would require that every new major rule proposed by federal agencies be approved via joint resolution passed by both bodies in Congress and signed by the President before they can take effect.
