U.S. Chamber Spirit Of Enterprise Award Presented To Congressman Hall For Pro-Business Record

Texas Lawmaker Recognized for Supporting Economic Growth and Job Creation

WASHINGTON, DC . . .  The U.S. Chamber of Commerce presentedRepublican Congressman Ralph M. Hall of Texas with the annual Spirit of Enterprise Award forhis pro-business voting record during the second session of the 111th Congress.

"Small businesses are the engine of our nation's economy," said Hall. "Sixty-four percent of net new jobs over the past fifteen years have been generated by small business owners, and it is important that these small businesses be allowed to continue to do what they do best - create jobs, build our economy, and keep America competitive. Congress needs to promote an environment where small business is not stifled by the government, but supported by it. I will continue to work hard so that small businesses, and our country, can thrive."

“The Chamber is honored to recognize Congressman Hall for helping create an environment in which businesses can grow and create jobs,” said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “He has shown great conviction by standing on the side of business, at a time when it matters most. Today we honor him.”

The Chamber’s prestigious Spirit of Enterprise award, in its 23nd year, has been given annually to Members of Congress based on key business votes outlined in the Chamber’s yearly publication, How They Voted. Those Members of Congress who support the Chamber’s position on at least 70% of those votes qualify to receive the award.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
