ENGEL: WEST NYACK POST OFFICE TO REOPEN DEC. 5TH

Washington, DC -- Congressman Eliot Engel announced that the West Nyack Post Office will reopen in time for the holiday season on Monday, December 5.  The post office will have the same services as it had before its closure.

Rep. Engel said, “The West Nyack Post Office was closed because of flood damage during Hurricane Irene and this re-opening should end the inconvenience the people of Clarkstown have been facing during the needed repairs. When this branch closed, I urged postal officials in Washington to re-open it before the holiday season.  I am pleased to see this will happen in a timely fashion.

“The services provided to the people of West Nyack, and surrounding areas of Clarkstown, are a very important part of the everyday life of its residents. The re-opening is good news for the West Nyack community.

“The Postal Service is proposing to close local post offices throughout the country. I strongly oppose this policy because I consider post offices to be a vital part of a community. Fortunately, none are under consideration for closure in Ramapo, Orangetown and southern Clarkstown.”
