ENGEL: NEW TRAFFIC LIGHT FOR GRACE AND NEEDHAM AVENUES

Washington, DC -- Congressman Eliot Engel announced that a new traffic light will be installed in the Edenwald neighborhood at the intersection of Grace and Needham Avenues at East 229th Street.

Rep. Engel said, “The light is going into a T intersection near two schools - Cardinal Spellman and the Edenwald School - as well as next to the Edenwald Houses. It will regulate traffic better, but more importantly, make the area safer for school children as well as regular pedestrians. I thank the City Department of Transportation for its decision to put a traffic light here.”

The Department recently completed its study regarding the need for additional traffic controls at the intersection and concluded it was necessary.  The Department said the light was tentatively scheduled to be installed by May 31st.
