ENGEL ANNOUNCES $650,000 REHAB GRANT FOR BUS FLEET

Washington, DC -- Congressman Eliot Engel announced today that Westchester’s Bee Line received a $650,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.  The grant is for new bus engines, including the rehabilitation of its articulated bus fleet.

Rep. Engel said, “This grant money will rehab buses that are rapidly falling into disrepair, where time spent in the shop has become more frequent, and upkeep more expensive. This program will add five to seven years to the life of the buses.”

The articulated vehicles to be rehabilitated are currently 9 years old. The proposed service life extension will make the buses more reliable, efficient and extend their life.
