CONGRESSMAN ELIOT ENGEL ON THE MTA FARE INCREASE

           “For the third time in three years, the MTA hit public transit users with a fare increase at a time when riders need all the help they can get. The MTA Board must find a better way to balance its budget than continually punishing the people who use it. We cannot sustain an increase in ridership, which is what we want to encourage, by coupling poor service with another fair increase. The MTA must reassess the way it conducts itself or it will surely see ridership diminish and with it, our magnificent public transit system.”
