REP. ENGEL DISCUSSES EDUCATION ISSUES WITH LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS

Washington, DC -- Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY-17) met on Tuesday with several members of the Westchester, Rockland and Putnam County School Boards, to discuss the many issues facing New York public schools.  Rep. Engel’s district includes parts of Rockland and Westchester Counties.

“It was a very productive meeting, as a great number of issues were discussed which will affect the education of our next generation of leaders.  We talked about the need for increased federal funding for a number of programs, and reform for policies such as No Child Left Behind, IDEA, and Title 1.  These school board members do an excellent job in advocating on behalf of New York’s children, and their families, and I plan to continue working closely with them to improve education opportunities for our children,” said Rep. Engel.
