CONGRESSMAN ELIOT ENGEL ON SUPREME COURT RULING ON FAA AIRSPACE REDESIGN

Washington, D.C.--I am disappointed in the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to decline to hear an appeal of Rockland County vs. FAA. I believe the lower court ruling was wrong in their ruling finding that the Federal Aviation Administration Redesign Plan had followed proper procedures for the environmental impact studies and noise mitigation studies. Regrettably the Supreme Court has declined to review the decision of the lower court and we have no other legal options.

I will, however, continue to vigorously pursue this matter in Congress through the FAA funding and authorization process and any other that may prove fruitful. The FAA redesign plan, as it now stands is a deeply flawed and adversely affects Rockland.

I will continue to fight every step of the way to prevent implementation of the current FAA Airspace Redesign plan and work towards an alternative solution that doesn’t put an additional 200-400 flights a day over my constituents.
